Industrial premises are primarily covered by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) although depending on the processes that are undertaken and the types of substances used means the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) also may have a say in fire safety regulation matters. There are for example the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) amongst others. Theres some more information on our Fire Law page.

Fortunately few lives are lost at industrial fires in general in the UK, however the potential for significant property damage and local disruption is often higher than other fires. There is very often a significant risk that the business concerned will be severely damaged by any fire at an industrial premises.
